Dear Fan and Friend,

I am celebrating… and because of this I want to do something SPECIAL!

What am I celebrating?

This year marks our 20th YEAR as a fortune cookie company, inventor, manufacturer, and innovator.
Mike Fry came up with his CRAZY idea for gourmet flavors in fortune cookies in late 1987.

Today our company, Fancy Fortune Cookies, manufactures 23 different flavors of these well-known and fun cookie treats. In fact, we customize our colored, flavored fortune cookies for companies and people all over the world, even offering customers the opportunity to create personalized messages to go inside.

Oh yeah, and did I mention we also offer chocolate covered fortune cookies?…And an assortment of mouth-watering sprinkles to go on top?

******************************
My Big Idea … and GIFT
******************************

So I’ve spent months trying to figure out the best way to celebrate our 20th anniversary as a wild and crazy fortune cookie innovator and to share it with you, Fancy Fortune Cookie’s VALUED friends and fans.

We think we finally came up with it two days ago in my favorite brainstorming place in the world:

******************************
My Starbucks Bombshell
******************************

While gulping down a venti coffee at Starbucks the other morning, the solution hit me. I smiled big and knew this was the idea I was looking for:

I’m calling it “100 Wishes In 100 Days”

Here’s how it will work…

I’m going to give away 100 fortune cookies with any customized, personalized messages you want inside to 100 lucky members of the Fancy Fortune Cookie Facebook Fan Page. (A $60.00 value!)

That’s right. I’m granting, FREE of charge, 100 fortune cookies you can use to create a special memory or event, or to give as an unexpected gift to someone who DESERVES it. We aren’t just doing this ONCE – We are doing this every day for the next 100 days! So your chances of winning 100 free personalized fortune cookies is pretty good!

And I will even pay the shipping!!

**********************************
Choose Your Wish Wisely
**********************************

Everyday my team here at Fancy Fortune Cookies will review all wishes that get posted here to this page. They must be posted on the wall (please, no emails).

Your wish to get your 100 free cookies can be anything you want it to be.

Your BIG WISH can be to use these cookies to…

• Thank a friend for a special thing they did for you
• Cheer up your workplace
• Support a cause dear to your heart
• Send to a loved one in a distant place or country
• Serve as wedding favors for you or a special couple that could REALLY USE some
• Give out at your church for a special event
• Put silly jokes inside and give out to kids (or adults!) at a special party or charity event
• Cheer up someone up who is down or ill
• Say thank you to someone who has helped you in your life
• Send it to support our troops on deployment

*******************************************
Better Words Create Better Chances
*******************************************

Now listen up. This is important. You can request the free fortune cookies for ANYTHING you want. But what I want most of all is for my 100 WISHES fortune cookies to be used for people, causes, and events that really DESERVE and can USE the FREE fortune cookies to make a difference in their lives, cheer up their day, or create a magical moment they’ll never forget.

So be ready to write your wish from the heart.

How it works:

• You’ll simply post your WISH on the Fancy Fortune Cookies Facebook Fan Page wall. It can be as long or short as you want. But remember, please make sure your WISH is worthy, as I hope to give away each of these 100 WISHES to really great people, causes, and events. It’s my way to “Pay It Forward!”
• You may post more than one wish.
• You may also post a photo that goes along with your WISH if you want.
• My staff will select 1 lucky winner a day, who will have his or her wish granted.
• Note that you do not have to post your same wish twice. Once we’ve seen your wish, it will be printed off and put with others, so my team will always have access to all the wishes that have come through. (In other words, your wish won’t “expire” once posted.)
• We will be collecting wishes both from this Facebook Fan Page, as well as the one for Happy the Hobo. (Yes, that’s me! — I had my own children’s television show from 1982 until 1990, and a ton of my former viewers have joined me here on Facebook I’m also extending this offer to them.)

I hope you’ll consider thinking of someone or something that NEEDS and DESERVES these free fancy fortune cookies and post your wish on my wall.

Make Your Life Memorable,

Mike Fry

Fortune Cookies Make Halloween a PR Treat for Your Blog

flavoredfortunecookiesThis past year FancyFortuneCookies has been working with tons of bloggers. All the bloggers have been doing such a great job reviewing our personalized fortune cookies and giant fortune cookies that I thought I would give them a little treat back.

Halloween, trick-or-treaters, we all pass out tons of candy. Especially if we live in a neighborhood with lots of kids. So why not pass out fun candy but also use it as an opportunity to broaden your business or blog base? If you are a blogger or a business owner that provides useful services to families and parents here’s an idea to get your name out there while passing out treat to the kiddos. And this way you won’t be the neighborhood dentist who inevitably gives out toothbrushes instead of candy… Party Poopers.

Personalized fortune cookies give you a chance to put a message about your blog or business and pass them out to the parents as the kids grab their candies. Since you can get 100 personalized fortune cookies for $38-$48 they aren’t going to break the bank, and you can even get them in flavors and colors. Kids love the orange by the way.

With creative little messages inside like, “Save a fortune, win a giveaway! Visit http://www.YourBlogAddressHere.com” or “Great products for moms, great giveaways to save you a fortune! http://www.YourBlogAddressHere.com” you are pretty much guaranteed to get a little boost in traffic and readership. Just by letting people in your own community know what you are doing. Communicating it in a fun and unique way is always a bonus. Believe it or not, personalized fortune cookies get a 92% read rate. Think about it, have you ever come across a fortune cookie and NOT cracked it open to see what your fortune was???

FancyFortuneCookies can also be a great way to promote your business. Back to the dentist with the toothbrushes… (Yes, we have one of those in our neighborhood.) What if you hand out a fortune cookie with a cute message inside like, “Our fortune is invested in your smile. New patients receive a free teeth whitening kit! Call Dr. Angela Greenaway, D.D.S 321-123-4321”.

With personalized fortune cookies, you can still have a bowl of Halloween candy for the kids and pass out the fortune cookies to the parents. I know when I go trick-or-treating with my daughter this year, I’ll be the one eating the treats. So if anyone hands me an orange fortune cookie personalized with their info, I’ll be the one reading it. Much better than handing a 15 month old little girl a toothbrush!

Great Fortune Interpretations

I love this little blog. Just discovered it today and think the author really does a beautiful job. The photos are outstanding, the interpretations insightful, and the whole concept really gives inspiration.

Check out the blog here.

Just had to share….

Great Overview of Chinese American Culture

The Fortune Cookie Chronicles

The Fortune Cookie Chronicles

Last March Jennifer 8 Lee released her book on the Chinese American Culture, The Fortune Cookie Chronicles. It not only deals with the history of Chinese American’s but also with many cultural aspects. It covers foods, and nagging questions like what IS the origin of that pesky little fortune cookie?

As a writer for the New York Times and a Chinese American, Jennifer Lee was able to give a broad overview of her culture. And of American culture in general. After all, what’s more “American” than Chinese take-out. The Fortune Cookie itself is more American than Chinese!

One of the fortune cookie companies she mentions in her book is Fancy Fortune Cookies, the worlds first and only gourmet flavored, colored fortune cookie bakery! Thanks Jennifer and Congrats on the stellar success of you book! Her fun little book made #26 on the New York Times Bestseller list!

Unique Business Cards that Get Almost Unbeleivable Results

Right now in this economy, every one is looking for new ways to breakthrough the clutter. Relationship Marketing is the only type of marketing that really counts right now. But how can you stand out enough to begin building a relationship with a new prospect.

Mark, at Rescue Marketing posted a great little blog post back in October that really drives this point home. Our business is made up of about 90% referrals and direct traffic. So we are HUGE fans of Relationship Marketing here. And yes, I know our site is aging… Fast.

Fortune Cookie Marketing

Fortune Cookie Marketing

We have been on the internet since 1990, before most people knew what the internet was. In spite of our “aging site” we have done business with people like Oprah, Donald Trump, Ozzy, Conan, and too many fortune 500 and fortune 100 to list. For you direct marketers out there – because we really are a direct marketing company, our vehical just happens to be an innocent looking fortune cookie – it has been our pleasure to work with marketers like Chet Holmes, Alex Mandossian, Paul Lemberg, Seth Godin, Bob Proctor and many more just like Mark.

Fortune Cookies are just that – a marketing tool. A chance to get noticed. To break out of the herd mentality and get on the path of growing your business. Use them to educate your prospects and clients about what you do. Maybe you clean carpets and want to let people know that you also clean grout and tile. Or are you a ghostwriter who can put together more than just articles. You can use a clever marketing tool to the get the message across without being “sales-y”!

Mark, thank you for using us as a teaching tool. And for spurring us forward to re-skin our site yet again. We know exactly where you are coming from and are headed toward and would be honored to contribute to your book, blog or other projects you have in the mix anytime in any way.

Valentine’s Day Gifts She’ll Rave About

Come on guys! Listen up…. or read up since this is a blog. Chocolates, us girls have all gotten those before. Flowers, yawn. Electronics, unless your gal is queen of the video games, please don’t. Lotions & candles, those are what you get the sister-in-law you know nothing about. Jewelery, let’s face it, none of us have the budget for that right now.

So here are some alternative Valentine’s day gifts that will knock her socks off – and maybe even knock her pants off! 😉

Option one is something she will never expect but will remember for many Valentine’s to come. In fact the only downside to this Valentine’s gift is it might be hard to top next year. Imagine giving her 100 personalized fortune cookies with your predictions for your future together inside, quotes of love and romance, or even little messages that list things you love about the woman in your life! Like I said hard to top next year. The best part is you can get 100 personalized fortune cookies from Fancy Fortune Cookies for only $38.00 OR you can do their famous flavored and colored fortune cookies for $45.00 per 100 – but this gift looks like it cost a “fortune”! Perhaps you need something a little more unusual for your sweetie, then consider having custom fortune cookies dipped in decadent dark chocolate! A natural aphrodisiac. (Use coupon code “esurvey” for a 10% discount)

If you want to giver her something fun and unique, that isn’t as tired as chocolates or uncreative as flowers, then consider a unique edible gift that she has never seen the likes of before. A giant fortune cookie! Giant-Fortune-Cookies.com has the largest giant fortune cookies in America and possibly the world. Each hand made giant fortune cookie is dipped in the finest milk, white, or dark chocolate and come decorated just for your Valentine. Your personalized message, or fortune rather, comes inside the cookie just like a regular fortune cookie and eliminates the need to buy a card. As far as I know they are also the only giant fortune cookie seller that makes their own cookies – meaning they are fresh for your sweetie, and taste great too! Also they ship to Canada. So if you are looking for a giant fortune cookie gift to go to Canada take a look at their site.

There you have it. Two great Valentine’s gift ideas that will warm her heart and give you both a fun, memorable bonding time.

If you are considering proposing Fancy Fortune Cookies specializes in “Will you marry me?” fortune cookies. They have even put customers actual engagement rings into their fortune cookies along with the custom proposal! How cool is that?!?

Affordable But Unique New Years Favors

Believe it or not, and I fall in the “not” category, 2009 and the start of a new year is right around the corner. If you are planning a New Years bash or attending one and need a unique favor, consider personalized fortune cookies.

new-year

Personalized fortune cookies can make a great New Years party favor for quite a few reasons.

1. They’re Economical – $38.00 for 100 vanilla fortune cookies, or $45.00 for 100 of a flavored, colored fortune cookies. That’s plenty to spread around the New Years cheer.

2. They’re Personalized – Included in the price, you can put 5 of your very own messages inside. What might you want to express with your New Years party favors?
• Share a toast to the new year
• Express your hopes for the year to come
• Thank your friends & party goers for all they add to your life
• Share your New Years resolutions
• Pass on a wish for the New Year to hold Joy, Peace, Love and Hope
• Recap funny things from 2008 (Shoe throwing anyone???)
• Write messages that tie in the party’s theme
• Have fun playing off the word “fortune”. As in “May the new year bring you health, happiness and good fortune!”

3. They’re Unique – Many people don’t know that personalized fortune cookies exist. Let alone flavored fortune cookies that come in fun colors. You can even pick the flavor or color that match the party colors.

4. Spark Conversation – Sometimes it can be tough to guests talking to one another. Especially when you are getting friends and family together from several different social circles. So handing out a personalized fortune cookie as guests walk in the door, can be a great icebreaker and conversation starter.

5. Totally Eatable – Everyone loves to eat and snack! What more do I need to say?

If your New Years event is a little more elegant or high end, then you might want to consider chocolate dipped fortune cookies. They taste incredible and have that elegant touch you are looking for.

Still need ideas for New Years fortunes, then the following may help. Many even work for New Years toasts.
